Mr Dunn, a non-smoker from Upminster, claims he developed asthma as a result of the smoky atmosphere in the club - where free cigarettes were handed out to punters.

His claim hinges on the club's failure to install an adequate ventilation system, something that would have cost a third of the £150,000-worth of free cigarettes distributed each week, according to the GMB union which is backing Mr Dunn.
