Intro: An increase in cigarette prices helped push Canada's annual inflation rate in June up to 1.3 percent from the 1.0 percent recorded in May, Statistics Canada said on Tuesday. . .
"Just over of half the Consumer Price Index 's advance in June (compared to June last year) is due to a rise in cigarette prices, largely resulting from an increase in taxes," Statscan said in its daily bulletin. Cigarette prices in June were 32.1 percent higher than in June 2001. [This graph only]
