Company warns of possible side-effects of anti-smoking, depression drugs

Intro:

The manufacturer of Zyban, a commonly prescribed drug to help people quit smoking, said Monday the product and a related drug may cause side-effects ranging from nausea and headache to seizures and severe high blood pressure.

Earlier this year, Health Canada advised doctors that Zyban and a drug used to treat depression are suspected to have caused reactions leading to the deaths of 19 Canadians.

GlaxoSmithKline issued a news release Monday containing what it called "important safety information" on the drugs.
