The Society Calls for Restricting Smoking

Intro:

On Monday a group of Kazakhstani people appealed to the government calling for restricting smoking among young people. At present they are going to initiate issuing of the bill to fight this vice.

The head of the Public Health Agency says that currently the bill “On restrictions of smoking” was anticipated in the country. The bill has already been worked out and will be submitted to the Parliament.

According to Zhaksylyk Doszhanov, for the purpose of prophylaxis and resisting smoking and other harmful habits, in September 2000 the Public Coordination Council was established. The Council is a consultative and advisory body subordinate to the government.

He also said that the Council’s appeal had been supported by about 38 parliamentarians and different public organizations.
