Mass. study, foes challenge Eclipse cigarette claim 

Gary Burger, R.J. Reynolds' executive vice president of research and development, said the company's conclusions are backed by scientific research, including human testing and independent verification. He also said the Massachusetts study used only a limited set of data to draw its conclusions.

``Extensive testing of Eclipse has shown that, even under very intense puffing conditions, the smoke is primarily water and glycerin, while the smoke of other cigarettes is primarily tar,'' Burger said in a statement.
