Intro: The American Cancer Society Tuesday was allowed to become a party in the lawsuit questioning whether opponents of South Dakota's smoking ban got enough valid petition signatures to refer the issue to voters.
That will allow the ACS to make the case that the smoking ban passed by the Legislature this year but not yet implemented is not subject to review by voters.
