Intro: The careless disposal of a cigarette in a trash can is responsible for a fire that nearly destroyed a Gary boarding house last night.
The Duluth Fire Department responded to the blaze just after 2 AM.
The flames were contained to a single room and the automatic sprinkler system had been activated.
