Intro: The state Budget and Control Board on Thursday approved a tobacco-use surcharge on health insurance premiums.
WHAT IT DID: Public employees will pay an additional $25 a month if they or family members covered under their plan smoke or chew tobacco.
WHEN: The surcharge takes effect Jan. 1, 2010.
