Intro: I stopped for gas recently and pulled up next to a woman who was fueling her car while smoking a cigarette. I kindly asked her to put out the cigarette and she refused. After another request and another refusal I got very angry and called this women a very nasty name several times . . .
My first reaction was that you were making this question up because nobody could be so stupid as to smoke while gassing up the car. Then I thought about my many years of reporting on all the stupid things people have done, and decided I would address this matter.
First of all, what kind of moron smokes a cigarette while pumping gas? Jeez. Even I am not that dumb.
So I think you were entirely within your rights in asking her to put out the smoke.
