Intro: SMOKERS will spend an average of £102,895 on cigarettes in their lifetime, according to research.
The typical smoker will puff away on 17 cigarettes a day - a total of 6188 a year or 386,750 over an adult lifetime.
And it doesn't come cheap, as £31.66 is spent on cigarettes every week - or £1646 a year.
The smoking ban has had little effect, with almost half of smokers insisting they still light up the same amount as before.
Almost five per cent even reckoned they puff away more than they did before the ban came into force.
And more than a third said they didn't ever consider throwing away their cigarettes.
