Intro: A 56-year-old Virginia Beach man died over the weekend, two weeks after he was admitted to an area hospital for injuries sustained in a house fire that investigators say he set off through careless smoking.
George Breiholz was pronounced dead on Sunday. Police spokesman Adam Bernstein said the medical examiner has not yet determined an exact cause of death, but Breiholz was admitted to the hospital after sustaining injuries in a fire at his home on Indian River Road on April 14.
Fire investigators determined that Breiholz accidentally started the fire by smoking a cigarette while breathing from an oxygen generator machine.
