Intro: North Texas hospitals taking a tough stance against smoking on their campuses are finding compliance by patients, visitors and even their own employees very hazy.
While enforcing the new rules is easier said than done, inspectors who certify hospitals may take an interest.
In January 2007, Baylor Health Care System declared no smoking anywhere at all of their 14 medical centers. However, News 8 found a patient wearing his gown and hooked up to an IV sitting out front of the main building at Baylor University Medical Center lighting up. No one told him to put it out.
