Intro: A new Regina business is offering laser treatments that work like acupuncture without the needles to stop smokers from lighting up.
Pioneered in the United Kingdom, the smoking cessation therapy uses low-powered lasers that are approved by Health Canada and have primarily been used in Canadian physiotherapy clinics for the past 10 years, said Genora Keen, a director and owner of Precision Laser Therapy.
When smokers try to kick the habit, endorphin levels drop which cause withdrawal symptoms such as physical cravings, she said.
