Thomas G. Robertson was a simple man who rarely took medicine and always took his time.

He loved drinking beer and smoking cigarettes.

And he lived to be 101 years old.

"He always believed in doing everything the 'Robertson way,'" said Jeanet Bullock, his stepdaughter-in-law.

Mr. Robertson died Wednesday at a Fort Worth retirement home. He had celebrated his 101st birthday 10 days earlier. . . .

About four years ago, he moved into the retirement home. Although he gradually gave up beer, he continued to smoke a pack of cigarettes a day until about three months ago.

"I always told him he was too ornery to die," Bullock said.
