Smoking ban mulled for public parks 

Salt Lake County soon could snuff out smoking at nearly 100 outdoor parks and recreation facilities. The County Council could decide today whether smokers can keep puffing in public parks - a move that could render smoke-free every county recreational facility from the equestrian center in South Jordan to Meadowbrook Golf Course in Taylorsville to the hang-gliding park in Draper. "We don't want to discriminate against the people," said Kathy Baebler, the Salt Lake Valley Health Department's tobacco-prevention program manager. "We want to discriminate against the behavior."
