Intro: A campaign to curb tobacco smoking in public places has recently flared up on community college campuses in San Mateo County.
At least two efforts to restrict smoking in public have been started by student groups at College of San Mateo and Skyline College.
Most recently, Citizens for Clean Open Spaces, formed by CSM students, convinced the Pacifica City Council to agree unanimously to draft an ordinance that would ban smoking on the city's beaches. . . .
Meanwhile, another organization of students from CSM and Skyline, who call themselves Smoke Free San Mateo County Advocates, are trying to get smoking prohibited or at least restricted to certain areas on the campuses.
