Intro: The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday sought input from the Bush administration on a jurisdictional dispute in a case brought by two Little Rock women over the marketing of "light" cigarettes.
The response the court receives from U.S. Solicitor General Paul Clement could determine whether the justices take up the women's appeal of a ruling issued last August by the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals at St. Louis.
In affirming a district judge's ruling, the 8th Circuit decided that a lawsuit filed in April 2003 by Lisa Watson and Loretta Lawson should be heard in federal court instead of state court.
