Altria Group is the parent company of Kraft Foods, Philip Morris International and Philip Morris USA. Altria Group's operating companies' brands include household names like Maxwell House, Marlboro, Post, Philadelphia, Virginia Slims, Miracle Whip, Nabisco and many more. In addition, Altria Group owns Philip Morris Capital Corporation, an investment company that manages a portfolio consisting of leveraged and direct finance leases. Altria Group also has a 28.7% economic interest in SABMiller, the world's second-largest brewer. . . .

Was the name change to Altria Group an effort to distance the Company from tobacco products?

A:

Some have speculated that the name change to Altria Group is an effort to "distance" the family of companies from its tobacco heritage. But that isn't the case. Altria Group takes pride in owning what we believe to be the two premier tobacco companies in the world--each of which retained its Philip Morris name. We are equally proud of Kraft Foods and its outstanding performance in the food and beverage industry.
