Intro: SCOTLAND'S smoking ban has triggered a fourfold increase in calls to a national stop smoking helpline, The Scotsman has learned.
Smokeline, a national advice line run by NHS Health Scotland, received about 450 calls on each of the three days following Sunday's ban. The line usually receives roughly 100 calls a day.
Regional support lines, such as the Smoking Concerns service in Glasgow, have also reported increases in calls.
