Intro: Albanian villagers living near the border with Serbia are paying Yugoslav army reservists in cigarettes to let them work their land without being shot at, an newspaper said on Thursday.
An elder of Shishtavec village told daily Koha Jone local farmers were afraid to work their fields or gather fodder for their livestock because of the threat posed by Serb snipers.
``The reservists asked the villagers to give them cigarettes if they wanted to work their land close to the border and cut grass from the meadows,'' Dylejman Nela was quoted as saying.
