Intro: Smoking at city beaches and parks was officially stomped out for good on Nov. 7 after City Council unanimously passed a smoking ban proposed by the Del Mar Parks and Recreation Committee.
“The passing of this ordinance sends a message to Del Mar’s youth, families and visitors that our city cares about their health and well-being,†said Molly Rose, a Torrey Pines High School student and member of the North County Youth Partnerships.
Rose, along with several other students and local residents, came to the meeting to show their support for the ban.
“Cigarette smoking is a major pollutant to our parks and beaches,†said Becky Dembitsky of the Parks and Recreation Committee.
