Keelung City plans to introduce a no-smoking street on trial basis by year's end 

The Department of Health of Keelung City is planning to declare an entire alley in the city as a no-smoking street on a trial basis. The city plans to make Xinyi Road's Lane 141 a no-smoking street. The city plans to make advertisements for the stores located along the lane who will take part in the activity. Efforts will also be made to beautify the street by adding greenery. Authorities and commercial outlets located along the alley have reached a consensus on the issue, and smoking is set to be banned in all of the stores along the street by the end of this year.

The Department of Health is taking a number of steps in an effort to promote a smoke-free environment.
