The anti-smoking cause was not so subtly packaged with boxes of free stuff Tuesday that attracted students in San Ramon Valley High School's lunch crowd like moths to a flame.

The hook was set by Jimmy Kavadais, the outreach coordinator of Tobacco Industry Gets Hammered by Teens. Dozens of students lined up at TIGHT's "O2" van, clamoring for shirts, caps and posters advertising the evils of smoking. . . Tuesday was national Kick Butts Day, targeting tobacco use by children. Danville physician Dr. Lowell Kleinman, who also goes by "Doctor Quit," spent the day at California High School in San Ramon, showing students in a health education class what they're putting in their bodies when they smoke.
