Health Ministry working on even harsher smoking restrictions

Intro:

Although Saeima approved stringent restrictions on smoking just last week, the Ministry of Health is already working on even stricter amendments to the tobacco law.

Advertising and retail of tobacco, as well as smoking in public places, cafes, restaurants and recreational facilities, such as sports arenas and casinos, will be further limited.

The Health Ministry will propose a complete ban on tobacco advertisement in the printed media, Gita Rutina, deputy director at the Health Ministry's Public Health Department, told reporters today, commenting on amendments to the law "On Restriction Regarding Sale, Advertising and Use of Tobacco Products".
