Intro: As of April 1, smoking will be banned inside all prefectural government buildings in Fukuoka Prefecture. The move is in response to the enactment of a May 2003 law requiring public facilities to prevent passive smoking. Visitors will also be subject to the ban. Saga Prefecture is now the only prefectural government in Kyushu to ban smoking in government buildings, and Kagoshima Prefecture will join Fukuoka Prefecture in banning smoking in April.
