Joining a growing trend, the UW-Baraboo/Sauk County campus went "smoke free" this week, banning the use of all tobacco products indoors and out.

"This is a wave of the future right now," said Carolyn Davis, assistant dean for administrative services.

The campus follows a precedent set by St. Clare Hospital, which went smoke free in November, and Baraboo schools. Smoking is banned not only indoors but on the grounds, so smokers can't take traditional refuge huddling in outside doorways.
