Intro: R.J. Reynolds will donate $477,000 to a Veterans of Foreign Wars program that provides phone cards to U.S. military personnel around the world so they can more easily stay in touch with their families.
The donation was the result of a Veteran's Day promotion in November, where Reynolds asked Doral smokers to send in seals from their cigarette packs, and agreed to make a donation to the VFW for each seal submitted.
The company was expecting to donate about $30,000, Rob Dunham, vice president of R.J. Reynolds' savings brand marketing, said in a news release.
