Late last week, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov met his Ukrainian counterpart Viktor Yanukovich in Moscow. They discussed the issue of withdrawals and limitations in Russo-Ukrainian trade. Moscow and Kiev have had an agreement on free trade since June 24, 1993. On October 4, 2001, it was complemented with a protocol under which Ukraine's sugar, tobacco and alcohol and Russia's sugar, tobacco and bakery products were withdrawn from the free trade regime.
