Group takes ‘stand’ against tobacco

stand presented a gruesome picture about tobacco use to Knox County citizens on Thursday.

The "Not-So-Picture-Perfect Photo Tour" made a stop on Public Square during the lunch hour, showcasing 36 photos taken by youth from across the state showing the prevalence of tobacco in their everyday lives.

"(With this exhibit) we might be able to reach someone and get them not to smoke or to stop smoking," said Stacy Urbano, a Knox County stand member from Centerburg.

The stand campaign was created by the Ohio Tobacco Use Prevention and Control Foundation and is attempting to change the culture of tobacco acceptance through a youth movement. The movement allows children to stand up and speak out against tobacco.
