Spain threatened Friday to impose even tougher measures on Gibraltar unless action is taken to fight crime they say is rampant in the disputed British colony.

Spanish officials said Foreign Minister Abel Matutes will press those complaints with British Foreign Secretary Robin Cook when they meet in Luxembourg on Sunday to discuss a dispute that has already led to increased border controls with Gibraltar. . . Spanish authorities accuse Gibraltar of running a "parasite economy" and failing to prevent use of the tiny territory for drug trafficking, tobacco smuggling, money laundering and other shady financial dealings.
