Intro: Smoking in public places including restaurants, cafes and nightclubs will soon be banned throughout the UAE.
On Tuesday, Ireland became the first country in the world to ban smoking in public places although Similar bans are in place in cities and states elsewhere.
In the UAE, the ban has already come into force at many government buildings and is likely to be extended to all other public places by the end of the year.
A study is underway to find the best means of imposing the ban in Dubai and Sharjah. The ban is expected to be extended to other emirates afterwards.
