QuikTrip Circulates Cigarette Tax Petition

Tulsa, Okla.-based convenience store chain QuikTrip Corp. released petitions this week against a proposed cigarette tax that will increase what they believe is an already unfair advantage for Indian smoke shops, reported KOTV in Tulsa.

If the new tax goes through, the excise tax on cigarettes would go up by 77 cents a pack for both Indian and non-Indian retailers. But QuikTrip says the Indian retailers would get a 50 percent rebate from the state.
