Intro: A group of anti-smoking activists demanded yesterday that state Legislature leaders immediately call for a vote on a proposal that bans smoking in all indoor workplaces, including restaurants and bars.
Some three dozen placard-carrying protesters -- chanting "What do we want?" and responding "Clean Air" -- rallied outside the West Orange offices of state Sen. Richard Codey (D-Essex) on Mt. Pleasant Avenue.
"It is not acceptable for New Jersey to be called New York's smoking section," Tom Duffy, executive vice president of the American Cancer Society of New Jersey, told the supporters who gathered in Codey's absence.
