Intro: A Taipei city councilman yesterday called attention to the serious problem of junior and senior high school student smoking and urged the city government to adopt necessary measures to deal with the problem.
Taipei Councilor Wang Shih-chien of the Democratic Progressive Party pointed out that school authorities have caught more than 6,500 students smoking over the past 30 months.
Wang noted that even more shocking is the fact that elementary school students down to Grade 4 have been caught smoking.
