Intro: Smoking rates among teenage students in Seoul are continuously on the decline, indicating that the education authorities are winning the battle to curb teenage smoking.
Coming as a shocking discovery for the general public, however, is the fact middle school girls surpassed their male counterparts in the smoking rate for the first time.
These revelations are part of the findings disclosed in a July survey in which the Seoul chapter of the Education Administration which asked 3,011 students of 31 primary, middle and high schools in Seoul to investigate their smoking practices.
The poll surveyed 907 high school students from 10 schools, 12.7 percent of whom said they did light up.
