Helena council OK's tobacco tax to start Jan. 1 

The Helena City Council this week approved levying a tobacco tax, beginning Jan. 1.

Helena Revenue Officer Kim Miller said the amount of the tax remains to be determined but will not exceed 10 cents per package of cigarettes, cigars or tobacco.
