Intro:
I know several women who smoked throughout their whole pregnancy, and the only bad thing that happened was one kid had a cleft pallate, which I guess is common in babies with mothers that smoked. All it meant is that she couldn't latch on for breastfeeding. Other than that, everyone I know is perfectly normal, healthy children. So although it is the best thing to do for you and your baby, stressing about it and quitting when you're just not ready may cause more harm than good. My doctor even knew about my smoking and said "everything in moderation. It won't hurt your baby"
I think about quitting every single day, and most days I make it through it! On the other hand I haven't been able to quit completely. If you want to email me (babycakes65) please feel free to do so. Maybe we could be a support team for each other.
My mom smoked like a chimney (2 packs a day)the whole time she was pg with me and I have no problems. My sis smoked with my nephew moderately and he has asthma. I think it also has a lot to do with chance. Some babies are perfect, some have slight problems. I think you should just weigh the options. I quit completely for 2 weeks and went into such bad withdrawels I ended up in the ER. All the docs said it was worse for the baby to go through that than to deal with smoke!!
