Intro: Anyone who smokes or is contemplating smoking should see this dynamic video. Narrated off screen by Jennifer Adams, 20-year-old Brandon Carmichael from North Dakota tells how his addiction to nicotine has altered his life. Brandon was born with Buerger’s disease, and tobacco is the only substance known to trigger it. While in high school, Brandon developed an ulcer on his toe that took months of bed rest and no smoking to heal. However, he was so addicted to nicotine that he started smoking again. Subsequently, his toe had to be amputated and finally his leg. . .
The teaching objectives have been met, and the teacher’s guide is outstanding. This attention-grabbing program would be an excellent resource for school health curriculums, as well as for public libraries and youth groups.
