Intro: The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) recently began an innovative smoking cessation program targeted to Medicare beneficiaries. TrailBlazer Health Enterprises was selected by CMS to provide systems integration and administrative services for the Healthy Aging Medicare Stop Smoking Program (MSSP). The pilot research program is aimed at determining the best methods to help seniors stop smoking.
TrailBlazer is enrolling participants, processing claims for smoking cessation counseling and pharmacotherapy benefits, and collecting project- related data for evaluation. TrailBlazer added a 30-seat customer contact center to its Timonium, Md. facility in October 2002 to handle the MSSP enrollment and claims processing.
