Intro: Smoking will be banned in the stands of Koshien Stadium in Nishinomiya, Hyogo Prefecture, beginning on March 9, when this year's first exhibition game between the Hanshin Tigers and the Seibu Lions is held.
Among the 11 stadiums that are home to pro baseball teams, the stadium was the last one in which spectators were allowed to smoke in the stands.
According to the Hanshin Electric Railway Co., smoking sections equipped with large ashtrays and screens to monitor games will be installed at 29 locations in indoor passages in the stadium at a cost of 40 million yen.
