UNI Looks At Proposals To Cut Down On Second Hand Smoking On Campus

Intro:

Smokers at the University of Northern Iowa could soon see some changes when they head outside to light up. It's an Iowa's News Channel 7 update. The faculty senate voted on Monday afternoon to experiment with changes that would keep smokers away from the front doors of campus buildings. A faculty member proposed the ban on smoking within 30 feet from entrances and exits to campus buildings. The topic sparked discussion and the senate ended up coming up with alternate ideas...like the possibility of building a place for smokers to go, or moving the ashtrays away from the doors. . .

The proposal will now head to campus planning, and the senate hopes to hear back from the group by Spring.
