Intro: It is planned to issue a bulletin on harm of smoking in Armenia, said Hrayr Aslanyan, WHO officer for co-ordination and links with Armenia. He said that the bulletin would be launched in November 2002, twice a month and is expected to include articles on the harm of smoking, as well as other news covering the field. The bulletin is funded by WHO. Aslanyan said that it is the first time for 50 years of its activity that WHO leads development of world convention on the given problem.. Signatories to the convention will have to correspondingly change their legislation. By stressing the importance of the convention Aslanyan said that transnational tobacco companies are ready to impede or block any initiative aiming at people's health care and to even sponsor a surrogate science to convince the people that smoking is not harmful.
