Ariva may be the answer as ban-smoking calls increase 

Given the pressure on restaurants to ban smoking and the increasing willingness of restaurant owners to support the call, Bermuda's newest tobacco product may be just the answer for smokers, who do not intend to kick the habit.

Ariva is a smokeless tobacco product made of compressed powdered tobacco for use in the mouth. . .

Advocates for Non-Smoking spokesperson Charles Jeffers, who recently declared that a smoking ban in public places was necessary to cut down on the health risks and annoyance smokers caused non-smokers, said the benefit to such a product was that smokers could ease their addiction without affecting other people.

"Frankly from a health point of view it is obviously preferable that people don't smoke or use any kind of tobacco. But I respect the rights of people to choose so long as it does not affect people around them. Any product that assists people in retaining an addiction is not a good thing. However, it is the right of an individual to do what they want," he said.
