Intro: 1) The adverse effects of fetal exposure to maternal smoking was associated with asthma and wheezing in those children who had a common genetic susceptibility. 2) Low weight patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease showed more muscle atrophy and worse exercise capacity than did those with a normal body mass index.
